Tendonitis in the Foot and Ankle

Tendons are thick bands of tissue that connect muscles to bones. The feet and ankles have a large number of tendons, any of which can become inflamed, a condition known as tendonitis. The main cause of tendonitis is overuse from repetitive movement. For that reason tendonitis is especially common to runners, because if a tendon is made to work too hard or too long it can develop tears. The primary symptom of tendonitis in the foot or ankle is sharp, burning pain, often followed by swelling and stiffness. Athlete’s Foot in Teens

Athlete’s foot, also known as tinea pedis, is the most common fungal infection that affects the feet. It is common in older children, and it might occur in one or both feet. This fungus grows best in warm, moist areas of the skin and between the toes. Someone with this affliction will experience red, moist, scaly, and cracked skin that can be itchy and peeling between the toes.   • Lightly cover your baby’s feet (Tight covers may keep your baby from moving their feet freely, and could prevent normal development)
  • Allow your toddler to go shoeless (Shoes can be restricting for a young child’s foot)
  • Cut toenails straight across to avoid ingrown toenails
  • Keep your child’s foot clean and dry
  • Cover cuts and scrapes. Wash any scratches with soap and water and cover them with a bandage until they’ve healed.

There is a strong band of ligament, known as the plantar fascia, on the bottom of the feet. It attaches to the heel bone and stretches forward, fanning out and dividing into 5 digital bands which connect with the base of the toes. The plantar fascia is integral to the foot’s biomechanics, helping to form and support the arch and absorb shock. What Is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of the thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot, known as the plantar fascia, and causes mild to severe heel pain.
